Types of Testing

There are many types of home testing.
Mold Testing and Mold Inspection are usually the most popular tests
but we also know that most often mold is not the only toxic threat in an indoor environment.
See the different types of tests we offer below.

Air Testing

Air Testing

Air samples are taken using a “spore trap” these collect “spore trap samples”. Spore traps work by having a specific volume of air pass impact a sticky surface as it passes through the spore trap sampling device.  The sample is then sent to a certified lab for analysis and reporting.

Dust Mite Testing

Dust Mite Testing

Dust Mite Testing allows a HomeTestingPro to measure the amount of dust mite feces in your home. Dust mites are invisible, but testing allows you to know if there is a low, medium or high level of mite byproducts in samples of carpet or bedding dust.

Swab / Tape Lift Samples

Swab / Tape Lift Samples

Swab or Tape Lift tests are samples from household surfaces or visible mold colonies to find the species or amount of mold that might be growing around the home.  Samples are collected by swabbing or tape lifting the suspected are and then sent to the laboratory for diagnosis.

VOC Testing

VOC Testing

VOC Testing measures and reports total levels of Volitale Organic Compounds in your indoor space.  This test is professionally done by our HomeTestingPros using special equipment with a pump and air sample collector.

ERMI / HERTSMIT Testing

ERMI / HERTSMIT Testing

ERMI test is a dust cloth sample that is analysed by a lab to evaluate the health of a building.   ERMI uses a DNA-based method identifying 36 different species of mold including toxic types. The HERTSMI uses the same process but only identifies 5 of the 36 most toxic species of mold.

Moisture Testing

Moisture Testing

A special moisture meter device is used to measure the levels of moisture behind walls, under floors, ceilings and more.  When the device alerts to the number being higher this gives the HomeTestingPro a clue as to where mold could be growing in your home.
